This shrine has been around since 2005, but has gone through many a revamp and move, with its last (final) overhaul in the summer of 2007.

The name of the site came from me trying to think of what words best describe Relena's character in general. The word 'martyr' came first, being that I found the definition of the word perfect for her:

"A person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle."
Relena does anything for her ideals of pacifism, and nothing else would be right. And the 'glass' part, is from both the name the Cinq Kingdom is given in episode 31 "The Glass Kingdom" and also that Relena is much like glass, not hilding her emotions or how she feels about things.

Why I made this site
It's hard to even give a reason why anymore for building this website, other than I just love Relena. I can't say any other anime character has stolen my heart, quite like she has. It's hard to really remember if I liked her character at first or not, the love might have come after I had first watch Gundam Wing (and later Endless Waltz) back in 2000. I know I had loved the thought of Heero and Relena together first, and then my love for Relena alone could have steamed from that. It must have been the over all general hate she received from fandom, for no reason at all that really drew me in, because why was everyone hating this girl so much? And no, the "she's a stalker" reason never, ever works. I think that's what made me grab on and just love her more, cause I could only see a well written female character surrounded by pretty boy pilots with lots of problems. And I could say I loved her character while everyone else was going crazy over their Heero and Duo pairing (which I still can’t see, even to this day after re-watching the series at least 10 times) and bashing her at the same time.

And it's not her ideals of pacifism that make me love her, that's really the last thing because those ideals are what make her character flawed. It's just the overall strength she is able to hold in herself through the course of the series. She just keeps moving forward no matter what, even when her father died or when her kingdom is destroyed. She doesn't let so much sorrow keep her back, which for a 15 year old her that grown up the way Relena did, is amazing in my eyes.

But I made this site, not just for myself, but in hopes that other fans and non-fans of Relena can start to see her in a new light. I'm not asking for everyone to love her, but at least understand her more, and hopefully make the general hate disappear. Because really, when it's all said and done, she's just a fictional character in an anime. And while not everyone is going to love every character ever made, there is no reason to hate a well-written and interesting character like Relena.
